I've read the patches, looked at the starmap, played a few rounds etc etc, but that doesn't compare to the info the players have.
So tell me, what's happening? It's been about 2 months for me.
My observations so far below.
It seems like Outer.Heaven is gone from PC (Possibly because of that internal struggle with Catdoge and Fusion?), although I've seen Radar and Musturd on lately. Are you guys coming back? How many original members are still playing? (People like Moody, Musturd, Radar, etc.)
Wow Sidearms. That bolt pistol is a pocket sniper rifle now. Ion Pistol seems like it's in a fantastic place now. ADV Flaylock is worth running finally, Core has more PG but is viable on anti-shield builds (AR fits mostly).
ADS seems like garbage now. Anyone care to tell me otherwise? They seem to have no real presence anymore because 1-2 Swarms make you stay at a 200m+ distance and only go in when you have afterburner up, limiting engagement window to around 10 seconds to try and get anything done. Skills seem to have no effect, since the ROF buff from the skills is almost negligible.
Swarms are possibly just as good at anti-vehicle as forge guns now. I ran a squad with 2 swarmers, and we basically scared away any vehicles from even coming close. Can't imagine what Proto Min-Mando swarms would be like.
Combat Rifles have a definite problem dealing with shields now. I'm completely fine with this. Makes my Min Assault think twice about engaging Cal Assaults, especially without a sidearm that deals shield damage (Hence why I am loving that Ion Pistol).
Burst HMG is no longer terrifying. Deadly, but not to the point of stupidly powerful.
Once again, HOLY HELL BOLT PISTOL. That thing is crazy.
People have gotten a lot better at seeing cloaked scouts. Knew it would happen eventually.
Sadly, MU seems to have smaller effect on people who play in spates. The stomp is real. I shouldn't come back and go 26-4 in a skirmish (Although that ACR / Ion Pistol Min Scout is amazing at taking lightly defended objectives.)
Assaults are SLIGHTLY more prevalent. People still love their Heavy / Scout suits. I honestly think a respec is necessary down the line with all these changes. I think some people are still using those suits because it's what they skilled into and it's a chore to skill into something else again.
Have I missed anything? Are my observations wrong because I've only played around 5 matches and haven't gotten a good feel for what's really up?
Is PC mechanics still the same? Same PC Meta? It's been a long time.

You never really leave. It's hard to, since this game still has SO MUCH POTENTIAL.
And it's slowly being realized. Very slowly, but slowly nonetheless.
So, it's less of retirement, and more of "This isn't my primary game anymore"

And the most interesting thing that's happened to me is getting a KTB hate video and while it is amusing DUST should provide something interesting which I hope they do in 1.9

Me, Patrick and You have our own videos now. I got mine for claiming that he was an idiot for how he was using the shotgun.
He ADS'd a shotgun at 30m and was mad it wasn't getting kills.
